Whenuapai (syn. Green Horizon)

GRISELINIA

LITTORALIS

Griselinia, also known by its Māori name Kapuka, is an ideal hedging plant. 'Whenuapai' (syn. 'Green Horizon') is a superior selection with deeper green, glossier foliage, and more upright growth. 'Whenuapai' can be easily trimmed to form a neat, compact, hedge, or used as a specimen or background border plant in the garden, where it will mature around 6m high x 3m wide. Plant in full sun, to partial shade, and moist, but well drained, humus rich soil. Hardy to -10C and ideal for coastal gardens where the thick, glossy leaves will withstand extreme wind and salt spray. When planting a hedge of 'Whenuapai', plant at 75cm spacings and pinch out the growing tips frequently for the first year, to encourage lateral branching. Evergreen.
