DAPHNE
DAPHNE
Daphne ‘Sweet Amethyst’ raises the bar when it comes to superior Daphne cultivars. Not only does ‘Sweet Amethyst’ have more attractive, deep-green, highly glossy foliage on a well-formed, bushy, compact plant, it has an abundance of very large, long-lasting flowers. Pointed, pinkish-purple buds, reminiscent of beautiful amethyst quartz crystals, appear in early winter. Buds slowly expand and open into large, lilac-purple flowers in late winter, emitting a strong, sweet, yet deliciously fresh scent. Plant in a sunny or semi-shaded spot, in cool, moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in garden borders, or in a large container close to an entranceway to take advantage of the mesmerizing perfume. Picking sprays of flowers is the best form of pruning – nothing more required! Evergreen.
