An outstanding natural selection discovered on coastal cliffs in northern New Zealand, Coprosma ‘Lighthouse’ is a tough character that lends itself to low maintenance, low water requirement gardens. Being a coastal dweller, it is also very wind and salt-spray tolerant. Its spreading, compact habit makes it an ideal weed suppressing ground cover. Clean minimalist looks make it a good candidate for contemporary landscapes, where it can also be moulded to any desired shape by close clipping. It is a truly low maintenance, low water, requirement plant - ideal for coastal gardens and containers where it can be clipped into a perfectly tight, architectural, ball shape. Also looks fabulous juxtaposed with red and bronze coloured grasses and highly coloured, bold textured foliage. Plant in well-drained soil, in full sun, and protect from heavy frost.
