Pearly Gates

OSMANTHUS

DELAVAYI

Demure and delicate it may be, but this little shrub packs a punch when it comes to scent. Masses of pure white, tubular, flowers adorn the densely growing bush, from winter through spring. Being tolerant of full sun to dense shade, it is a great asset in a dark corner where its white flowers will illuminate the area and draw one to its sweet aroma. Use Osmanthus ‘Pearly Gates’ as a formal hedge, informal screen, container specimen, mass planting in larger gardens, filler in shaded areas, or beside entranceways, where its beautiful perfume can be enjoyed. ‘Pearly Gates’ is also drought, frost and wind tolerant, once established. Whilst it is relatively unfussy as to soil type, it does demand good drainage and regular watering through dry spells will result in a more vigorous plant. Lightly prune to maintain shape and fertilise in spring and late summer with a controlled release fertiliser. Hardy. Evergreen.
