Hearts of Gold

CERCIS

CANADENSIS

Cercis 'Hearts of Gold' is the first-ever gold-foliaged Cercis! Also known as Eastern Redbud, this outstanding variety will add a striking focal point to your garden, starting with a brilliant display of lavender-purple, pea-like, blooms adorning the bare branches for about 3 weeks in early to mid-spring. Large heart-shaped, glossy, spring foliage emerges orange-red, soon turning to clear gold, then maturing to chartreuse as the summer progresses. Shaded leaves are green and the outer golden foliage is burn-resistant, even in full summer sun. 'Hearts of Gold' forms a dense, dome-shaped, canopy and is an ideal specimen tree for smaller gardens. It prefers a full sun to partially shaded position in moderately fertile soil, with regular and consistent watering. Deciduous.
