Ecopanthus™ Rachel
PVR Rachel
Agapanthus praecox
Bred by Manaaki Whenua, Landcare Research, New Zealand, Agapanthus Ecopanthus™ 'Rachel' has recently been certified as a bona fide ‘low fertile’ agapanthus variety, proven to set less than 2% seed. On-going trials at Auckland and Christchurch Botanic Gardens, New Zealand, are testing many varieties of agapanthus for their seed set and potential as certified ‘low fertile’ selections. Ecopanthus™ 'Rachel' is therefore deemed non-invasive and can be safely planted in areas where agapanthus is listed as a plant pest due to its ‘super-spreader’ environmental weed status. Ecopanthus™ 'Rachel' produces slender, strongly upright, flower stems creating a dainty, elegant appearance. Flowers are delicate pale blue with dark blue brushstrokes and prominent black stamens, giving Ecopanthus™ 'Rachel' quite a point of difference. Evergreen.
