Flamingo
MALUS
X HYBRIDA
Malus ‘Flamingo’ is a stunning flowering crabapple, selected by esteemed breeder John McLaren from Central Otago, New Zealand. ‘Flamingo’ brings a host of rosy colours, transforming over three seasons. In spring it unfurls the new deep red foliage and crimson flower buds. These burst out into a spectacular display of intense cerise-pink blooms, with double flowers, through until the end of spring. Summer sees the foliage develop to a calming dark green before transitioning to brilliant reds and golds in late autumn, along with a small dark red crabapple. A hardy tree, Malus ‘Flamingo’ has an upright growth habit and makes a wonderful feature / focal point in the garden, or sentinels either side of an entranceway or garden bench. Best grown in a sunny sheltered position where soils are moist, fertile and free-draining.
