Ecopanthus™ Kath
PVR Kath
Agapanthus praecox subsp.minimus
Bred by Manaaki Whenua, Landcare Research, New Zealand, Agapanthus Ecopanthus™ 'Kath' has recently been certified as a bona fide ‘low fertile’ agapanthus variety, proven to set less than 2% seed. On-going trials at Auckland and Christchurch Botanic Gardens, New Zealand, are testing many varieties of agapanthus for their seed set and potential as certified ‘low fertile’ selections. Ecopanthus™ 'Kath' is therefore deemed non-invasive and can be safely planted in areas where agapanthus is listed as a plant pest due to its ‘super-spreader’ environmental weed status. Ecopanthus™ 'Kath' is a slender and dainty, dwarf selection with comparatively large, tubular, pale lavender to porcelain white flowers and super fine foliage. Easy to grow from division. Evergreen.
