Rekohu Sunrise
This first-ever variegated form of Carex trifida is named 'Rekohu Sunrise' in reference to where it was found - Chatham Island, also known as Rekohu by the Moriori people who made this remote Southern Pacific island their home around 900 years ago. Rekohu means 'misty rain', for the island is often covered in low cloud and misty conditions. Carex 'Rekohu Sunrise' forms a large fountain-shaped, evergreen clump of broad green leaves with gold margins.
